White Christmas | Bing Crosby
Yesterday was an awesome Christmas.
Every year I’m home for Christmas I watch White Christmas. I wake up, put the VHS tape (yes…that’s right…a VHS tape) in the VCR (yes…that’s right…a VCR), plop on the sofa and smile. It’s my own little Christmas tradition. My mom doesn’t get it. She’s not a fan of the movie. But I love it. In fact it’s the only Christmas movie I love. Every other one gets on my nerves. ‘It’ a Wonderful Life’? Annoying. 'A Christmas Story’? Even more annoying. National Lampoon’s? Bleh. I’m like a Christmas movie Scrooge. But for some reason I love White Christmas.
Actually know what The reason is. It’s Danny Kaye. He’s just adorable. His comedic timing, infectious laugh, smooth dance moves, and fantastic schnoz are the most endearing traits on the planet. I love him. Just love him. I love him in 'Hans Christian Andersen’. I love him in 'A Song is Born’. I love him in anything he’s in. I don’t know what it is. He just has this goofy boyish charm mixed with a low-key confidence that makes me want to giggle and nuzzle in the nook of someone’s arm.
I like that feeling. It’s one I’d like to have everyday. And you don’t get that watching Scrooged that’s for sure.
