Breathe Life | Jack Garratt
I feel like this is one of those songs you wish someone wrote about you. A song where someone lets you know how much they owe to you.
Every heartbeat.
Every exhale.
But at the same time I think songs like these are so deceptive
The fact is, you don’t owe any heartbeat to anyone. The truth is no one has power over your exhales except you.
There’s always this credit given to the ones we love, when we’re the ones doing the loving. We honor them for helping us see things in a new way, when it’s our eyes doing the heavy lifting.
I love love. And I love how it transforms you. But when the person you love walks away, you begin to see how much of the change you experienced really came from you.
Because when the loss of that love knocks the wind out of you, it’s you that breathes life into you lungs and no one else.
And later when you find yourself breathing stronger than you ever knew you could, you owe it to yourself to realize you don’t owe them anything.
