Last | Tourist, The Range
A new friend sent this track to me a few weeks ago.
After I got over the annoyance that he found this Tourist track before I did (which…i’m not going to lie…took a minute) I got excited. And not because I loved the track. But because someone got it right.
It’s not often that friends send me tracks that I love. Tracks I like? Sure. Tracks I hate? Yep. Tracks I don’t like but could see how other people would? All the time. But tracks that I actually love and want to listen to over and over again? Hardly ever.
It doesn’t sound like a big deal but it is…at least to me. Every time a friend sends me a track that they think I’d like or that reminds them of me and I don’t connect with it, my heart sinks. It’s like opening a Christmas present that I don’t love - I’m grateful to be thought of, but hurt to not be known.
I know it’s just a track; that it’s just a gesture. But for someone who uses music to connect with the world, it’s everything. So when someone sends me a track I love, when someone gets it right, it’s the best fucking feeling ever.
