I think this is the perfect track to kick off this week.

My new manager has created this new ritual where at the beginning of our weekly meeting, we write down how we’re feeling, on a scale of 1-10, on a post-it. And then, at the count of three, we put our post-its up to our cameras so everyone can see what we wrote.

This week I wrote “6.5”. And to be honest, I don’t see it as a bad thing. Because although this week is going to be a rough one, I could see it coming.

Yesterday, on a beautiful Sunday, I worked most of the afternoon because I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to get everything done. And today already met my low expectation of getting two out of four things done on my list. Tomorrow, I know will be hectic and rushed. And Wednesday will be long and hard. And Thursday will be just like Tuesday. And although I have Friday off, I have a sneaking suspicion, I’ll have to work.

Under any other circumstances, I’d give this week a “3”. But since I can see it coming, it’s not getting me all fired up.

Since I can see it coming, I can take a breath before I need to. Since I can see this coming, I can just ride this wave. I can just go with it. Laugh at it. Have a little fun with it. Get a little playful with it.

This is going to be one hell of a week. But since, I can see it coming, I can put on this track, get up from my desk, and dance.
