You're So Cool | Jonathan Bree
There’s something a little fun and a little haunting about this track.
The strings, the synths, the bass in the singer’s voice - it teeters on the edge of discomfort a bit.
Like a scene in a indie movie where I’m watching the underdog protagonist follow the girl his obsessed with.
A scene where, I know he’s a good guy - he’s just socially awkward and misunderstood and just trying to make it through life without getting messed with by assholes or without his family imploding. And he’s smitten by the one co-worker who didn’t look at him like a weirdo and actually smiles when she sees him. And he just happened to see her in some random place… but hid because he was ashamed of being there…and then wondered why she was there…and instead of not hiding, or trying to talk to her, or just leaving, he follows her…from a distance to see why this seemingly normal girl is in a place that, even he is nervous to be seen…and comes of a liiiiiiitle creepy because of it.
Yeah. this would be a good track for that scene in that movie.
…which for some reason I now see being set in Portland.
I guess because that city is also a little fun and a little haunting.
