Flutes | Hot Chip
My friend Bernardo sent me this track back in May and I was hooked.
At first it’s the initial vocals and snaps that remind me of childhood playground rhymes taken in a smirkier direction…and it just makes me want dance.
But then the chorus comes in and the childhood rhymes seem to turn into work chants and I feel like I have to dance.
But not because I’m enjoying myself, but because I’m being forced to.
Like it’s a duty or a punishment.
Like I have to dance as a consequence of my actions.
Like I have to dance to come to terms with everything I’ve done and stay on the dancefloor until I’ve truly thought about what I’ve done.
And I do. And then they do that little Hot Chip thing they do that makes it all worth it.
…one day you might realize that you might need to open your eyes…
