Black Sun | Death Cab for Cutie

It’s so nice to have my old Death Cab for Cutie back. 

Their sound had changed a bit over the years (I’m not blaming The Twilight Saga. But I’m kinda blaming The Twilight Saga) but this song brought me back to the resonance of Transatlanticism: one of the most magical albums I’ve ever listened to. And feel that magic again with this song.

Ben Gibbard has this way of unveiling the loveliness that can come from heartbreak… 

There is an answer in a question. There is hope within despair. There is beauty in a failure.

…while not shying away from the feeling of being defeated.

There is a role of a lifetime. There’s a song yet to be sung. And There’s a dumpster in the driveway with all the plans that came undone.

And he does it all with a a confessing honesty that feels weakening and empowering at the same time

There is grace within forgiveness. But it’s so hard for me to find.
