25 days and counting…

…and yes yet another Jamie XX mix of an XX track.

I don’t know what it is about this band. Or Jamie’s mixes. They just resonate with something within me.

This weekend I was hanging out with a friend and a song from The XX came on and he asked me to skip the track. 

My face did not hide my shock, judgement, and disappointment.

It was one of those moments when you realize that this person that you adore in so many ways, and who adores you too, will never be someone you can truly connect with.

But It was one of those moments when you realize that your taste in music doesn’t make you distinct from others. But that your taste in music speaks to you…or for you…in a distinct language.

A language that you didn’t know you could speak. But a language that you realize you’ve been trying to communicate with this whole time. Hoping that you’ll find someone that could understand the things you didn’t know how to say.

But that someone wasn’t your friend. And although the two of you will spend endless nights together talking, laughing, and connecting with each other, you will never speak the same language.
