Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It | Stars
Okay….I did not give this song enough credit when I first shared it.
I’ve been listening to this on repeat today and it’s been keeping me sane…well this song and my friends.
The past two days, I’ve felt like I’ve been drowning. School is in full force and work is not backing down at all. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and not sure if I can do it. I keep asking myself "Why did I take this job again? Didn’t I want to have this year to create and explore? Why am I doing this MBA again? A MFA is enough right?“ I’ve had these moments when I’ve seriously doubted if I can actually handle everything.
But some of us are lucky to have amazing friends to gently smack our butts into gear. Amazing friends like Lauren
A friend that will text you and call you, determined to make you realize that you do have the ability to do this. A friend who’s known you for almost 20 years. A friend that will let you hang up when you think you’re too busy to talk. A friend who’s given you the kind of patience and love that makes you feel like your real family is a fifteen minute drive away instead of a flight.
The kind of friend you think of when your days turns around. The kind of friend you think of when you want to dance. The kind of friend you think of when you hear a good song. The kind of friend you think of when you hear a love song. Because even though love songs are all about people you make out with, when there’s a good one…a really good one…like this one…you realize that love songs are about the people that make you feel like a better version of yourself. The version of yourself that you can’t always see. The version of yourself that looks past the bullshit and sees how lucky you are for having friends like that in the first place.
