Now don’t get me wrong. I love the idea of being in a long-term relationship. I get how wonderful they can be. But that’s just not where my mind first goes when I meet someone.

I love being in the moment. That curiosity you have when you see someone for the first time. The excitement that comes when you get the nerve to talk to each other. The giddiness of giving them your number. That smile that comes with the first text. The laughs that come with the first call. That other smile that comes with seeing each other again.

I like reveling in those little moments. There’s so much importance placed on finding something permanent…on saying I love you. But I think there’s value in the fleeting moments. I think there’s value in saying I love you ‘til the record stops. Especially since you can always put that needle back on and play that record again…and again…and again, if you want to.
