Chicago Love | Felix Da Housecat, Chris Trucher
A new friend tried to come for Chicago a few weeks ago.
He came for our pizza and our music.
If anyone knows me you do not come for our pizza (my friend Jeff has been witness to this). But if you KNOW me, you know that you do not come for our music.
You do not come for the city that brought you House. You do not come for the birthplace of The Warehouse. You do not come for the city that brought you Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, and Derrick Carter and the other Chicago DJs who paved the way for electronic music in the US with their Detroit brethren.
You can’t come for Chicago. Because it’s just too fucking fucking great. Even the worst parts of Chicago highlight its beauty; The windchill, the humidity, the crime - they just showcase how beautifully strong we are. We bear it all and still have a good time.
You can’t come for the city that inspires a track like this. A track that you want to wake up to, a track that you want to drive to, a track that you want to cook to, a track that you want to get high and clean to, a track that you play at 12am to get the party going, a track that you can at 3am to keep the party going, a track you can at 6am as the sun starts to peak out and shine on your smiling sweaty face.
You do not come for Chicago. Because all we do is bring Love.
