I wonder if I would love this song if I still lived in Chicago.

After I lived in California for 10 years I wondered if I was now a Californian. I remember asking my friend Kyle if I was Chicagoan who lived in California or a Californian who was from Chicago. He smiled and said “You’re a Californian now girl”. Coming from Kyle, born and raised in Northern California, I felt like it was a badge of honor. It was official.

I thought I would always be a Chicago Girl. And I am. But the Californian in me definitely takes the lead.

And if it means I can sit back and appreciate songs like this, I’m down.
